1. 24 HRS TRACKING
24 HRS TRACKING
In present days, the entire world using of mobile is growing day by day so the people are expecting some new applications in mobiles to make simple of using it as we know android is an open source.
Our project name is “24hrs Tracking”. It is new application which can track all the calls and messages and save them in database. It is likely designed to store all the data in a dedicated database where the data is retrieved from inbuilt mobile database to database where we can save the data. It provides the routing algorithm for the transmission of desired data.
The principle used for this tracking of data is designed through an operating system called ANDROID technology. This is a fledged software were the addition of new applications can be provided and used for faster operation. Bringing this application in to newer experiment it can also be used to develop network operations to send data to data base.
This software is used to help the people to store their important call log lists permanently. It is also used for parents to track the activities done by their children I mean whom they talk n the conversations they made with the people. Parents may install this application in their Childs mobiles to track them all and can retrieve from the mobile database to another database.
2. A LOCATION- AND DIVERSITY-AWARE NEWS FEED SYSTEM FOR MOBILE USERS
A LOCATION- AND DIVERSITY-AWARE NEWS FEED SYSTEM FOR MOBILE USERS
A location-aware news feed (LANF) system generates news feeds for a mobile user based on her spatial preference (i.e., her current location and future locations) and non-spatial preference (i.e., her interest). Existing LANF systems simply send the most relevant geo-tagged messages to their users. Unfortunately, the major limitation of such an existing approach is that, a news feed may contain messages related to the same location (i.e., point-of-interest) or the same category of locations (e.g., food, entertainment or sport). We argue that diversity is a very important feature for location-aware news feeds because it helps users discover new places and activities. In this paper, we propose D-MobiFeed; a new LANF system enables a user to specify the minimum number of message categories (h) for the messages in a news feed. In D-MobiFeed, our objective is to efficiently schedule news feeds for a mobile user at her current and predicted locations, such that (i) each news feed contains messages belonging to at least h different categories, and (ii) their total relevance to the user is maximized. To achieve this objective, we formulate the problem into two parts, namely, a decision problem and an optimization problem. For the decision problem, we provide an exact solution by modeling it as a maximum flow problem and proving its correctness. The optimization problem is solved by our proposed three-stage heuristic algorithm. We conduct a user study and experiments to evaluate the performance of D-MobiFeed using a real data set crawled from Foursquare. Experimental results show that our proposed three-stage heuristic scheduling algorithm outperforms the brute-force optimal algorithm by at least an order of magnitude in terms of running time and the relative error incurred by the heuristic algorithm is below 1%. D-MobiFeed with the location prediction method effectively improves the relevance, diversity, and efficiency of news feeds.
3. ACCIDENT DETECTION USING ANDROID SMART PHONE
ACCIDENT DETECTION USING ANDROID SMART PHONE
This project work is used to identify the accident occurrence and to detect the victim’s status. The microcontroller based system hardware has been developed to acquire the various parameters such as accident location, heart rate and beat and body temperature at accident occurrence spot and the same data have been transmitted to the LabVIEW software to analyze and indicate the physiological status of the victims. The same data and analysis report will be transmitted to the mobile phones which are in emergency care center and phone numbers for which the users would like to send the intimation.
4. ALTERDROID: DIFFERENTIAL FAULT ANALYSIS OF OBFUSCATED SMARTPHONE MALWARE
ALTERDROID: DIFFERENTIAL FAULT ANALYSIS OF OBFUSCATED SMARTPHONE MALWARE
Malware for smartphones has rocketed over the last years. Market operators face the challenge of keeping their stores free from malicious apps, a task that has become increasingly complex as malware developers are progressively using advanced techniques to defeat malware detection tools. One such technique commonly observed in recent malware samples consists of hiding and obfuscating modules containing malicious functionality in places that static analysis tools overlook (e.g., within data objects). In this paper, we describe ALTERDROID, a dynamic analysis approach for detecting such hidden or obfuscated malware components distributed as parts of an app package. The key idea in ALTERDROID consists of analyzing the behavioral differences between the original app and a number of automatically generated versions of it, where a number of modifications (faults) have been carefully injected. Observable differences in terms of activities that appear or vanish in the modified app are recorded, and the resulting differential signature is analyzed through a pattern-matching process driven by rules that relate different types of hidden functionalities with patterns found in the signature. A thorough justification and a description of the proposed model are provided. The extensive experimental results obtained by testing ALTERDROID over relevant apps and malware samples support the quality and viability of our proposal.

9. COOPERATIVE POSITIONING AND TRACKING IN DISRUPTION TOLERANT NETWORKS
COOPERATIVE POSITIONING AND TRACKING IN DISRUPTION TOLERANT NETWORKS
With the increasing number of location-dependent applications, positioning and tracking a mobile device becomes more and more important to enable pervasive and context-aware service. While extensive research has been performed in physical localization and logical localization for satellite, GSM and WiFi communication networks where fixed reference points are densely-deployed, positioning and tracking techniques in a sparse disruption tolerant network (DTN) have not been well addressed. In this paper, we propose a decentralized cooperative method called PulseCounting for DTN localization and a probabilistic tracking method called ProbTracking to confront this challenge. PulseCounting evaluates the user walking steps and movement orientations using accelerometer and electronic compass equipped in cellphones. It estimates user location by accumulating the walking segments, and improves the estimation accuracy by exploiting the encounters of mobile nodes. Several methods to refine the location estimation are discussed, which include the adjustment of trajectory based on reference points and the mutual refinement of location estimation for encountering nodes based on maximum-likelihood. To track user movement, the proposed ProbTracking method uses Markov chain to describe movement patterns and determines the most possible user walking trajectories without full record of user locations. We implemented the positioning and tracking system in Android phones and deployed a testbed in the campus of Nanjing University. Extensive experiments are conducted to evaluate the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed methods, which show an average deviation of 9m in our system compared to GPS.
10. CWC: A DISTRIBUTED COMPUTING INFRASTRUCTURE USING SMARTPHONES
CWC: A DISTRIBUTED COMPUTING INFRASTRUCTURE USING SMARTPHONES
Every night, many smartphones are plugged into a power source for recharging the battery. Given the increasing computing capabilities of smartphones, these idle phones constitute a sizeable computing infrastructure. Therefore, for an enterprise which supplies its employees with smartphones, we argue that a computing infrastructure that leverages idle smartphones being charged overnight is an energy-efficient and cost-effective alternative to running certain tasks on traditional servers. While parallel execution models and schedulers exist for servers, smartphones face a unique set of technical challenges due to the heterogeneity in CPU clock speed, variability in network bandwidth, and lower availability than servers. In this paper, we address many of these challenges to develop CWC—a distributed computing infrastructure using smartphones. We implement and evaluate a prototype of CWC that employs a novel scheduling algorithm to minimize the makespan of a set of computing tasks. Our evaluations using a testbed of 18 Android phones show that CWC’s scheduler yields a makespan that is 1.6x faster than other simpler approaches.
11. DYNAMIC GOOGLE REMOTE DATA COLLECTION
DYNAMIC GOOGLE REMOTE DATA COLLECTION
Google defends phone data collection. Google defended the way it collects location data from Android phones. The companies’ smart phones regularly transmit locations back to Google servers, respectively. Research by a security analyst found that an Android phone collected location data every few seconds and sent it to Google several times an hour. All location sharing on Android is opt-in by the user. Google has long defended its collection of location as helpful in providing services, such as accurate traffic maps, and its stance hasn’t changed amid the recent disclosures.
Data Collection utility application is for collecting Location Related Data for Manned Security Mobile Application. Initially the data related to the Site/Location where Security Officers and Team Leaders will go for Patrolling and Tours needs to be collected. Once the data is collected, it should be synchronized with Control Center, so that it can be used later for Tours/Patrolling.
A GPS receiver calculates its position by precisely timing the signals sent by GPS satellites high above the Earth. A satellite’s position and pseudo range define a sphere, centered on the satellite, with radius equal to the pseudo range. The position of the receiver is somewhere on the surface of this sphere. Thus with four satellites, the indicated position of the GPS receiver is at or near the intersection of the surfaces of four spheres. In the ideal case of no errors, the GPS receiver would be at a precise intersection of the four surfaces. A GPS receiver calculates its position by precisely timing the signals sent by GPS satellites high above the Earth. Each satellite continually transmits messages that include. The receiver uses the messages it receives to determine the transit time of each message and computes the distance to each satellite.

13. ENERGY-EFFICIENT FAULT-TOLERANT DATA STORAGE AND PROCESSING IN MOBILE CLOUD
ENERGY-EFFICIENT FAULT-TOLERANT DATA STORAGE AND PROCESSING IN MOBILE CLOUD
Despite the advances in hardware for hand-held mobile devices, resource-intensive applications (e.g., video and image storage and processing or map-reduce type) still remain off bounds since they require large computation and storage capabilities. Recent research has attempted to address these issues by employing remote servers, such as clouds and peer mobile devices. For mobile devices deployed in dynamic networks (i.e., with frequent topology changes because of node failure/unavailability and mobility as in a mobile cloud), however, challenges of reliability and energy efficiency remain largely unaddressed. To the best of our knowledge, we are the first to address these challenges in an integrated manner for both data storage and processing in mobile cloud, an approach we call k-out-of-n computing. In our solution, mobile devices successfully retrieve or process data, in the most energy-efficient way, as long as k out of n remote servers are accessible. Through a real system implementation we prove the feasibility of our approach. Extensive simulations demonstrate the fault tolerance and energy efficiency performance of our framework in larger scale networks.
14. INTELLIGENT PARKING SYSTEM FOR CAR PARKING GUIDENCE AND DAMAGE NOTIFICATION
INTELLIGENT PARKING SYSTEM FOR CAR PARKING GUIDANCE AND DAMAGE NOTIFICATION
Mobile devices are getting more pervasive, and it is becoming increasingly necessary to integrate web services into applications that run on these devices. We introduce a novel approach for dynamically invoking web service methods from mobile devices with minimal user intervention.
In this project we propose a method for car parking based on voice recognition. That involves entering the details of the parked car as a voice input in a parking place. Voice recognition is then translated into text. If the user gives the voice input it will show some suggestion related to the given input from Google server and user can select from the suggested list. The details will be store on the database and server. The database collects all the information about the payment and car details. The user can also view the history of the parked car.
The purpose of IPS system considers a control car system, an algorithmic move car system and a damage notification system to the vehicle. During the parking process, the driver is alerted by visual and sound signals. The IPS system provides a path planning image that is displayed on the on-board computer system to indicate the directions for the wheels.

In the present days it is becoming highly impossible to find any person without a mobile. So, the increases in demand for mobiles are high and people are expecting new technologies in mobiles. Android came up with a solution to meet the demand for latest technology of mobiles. Android was founded in Palo Alto, California, United States in October 2003 by Andy Rubin (co-founder of Danger). Android is a Linux-based operating system for mobile devices such as smart phones and tablet computers. It is developed by the open handset alliance, led by Google and other companies. Android has a large community of developers writing applications that extend the functionality of the devices. So it would be safe to say that nearly every mobile phone sold-out in the past decade has SMS capabilities. So, here we are to introduce you an all new messaging technology called ‘MESSAGE READER’ a quick and latest way of messaging.
‘MESSAGE READER’, the name itself suggests a new era to our regular chats via messaging. In our day to day lives we do a lot of messaging with our friends and people we know. By installing message reader application in our android we can make this process easier and quicker. This application is based on the change of format of received message. When a sender sends a message the receiver will receive a message in audio format. Thus a new version for our regular chat is here. The receiver can reply via text quickly. By introducing this application in an android market we can improve the quality of messaging.

20. MOBILE THEFT
MOBILE THEFT
ABSTRACT
The objective of this project is to create an application “Theft Monitoring” where we are able to find our lost phone easily.Sometimes we accidently tend to replace our phone somewhere and we end up searching for it. Yet sometimes we are lucky to get our phones back but sometimes we never get it back.Hence to avoid such situations and keeping the recent demand and the greed for phones in mind we have decided to develop this application “theft monitoring”.This application gets activated as soon as the person who has stolen the phone changes the sim and switches on the phone. The user will not know that an automatic message is being sent to the predefined number. This message will contain the sim details as well as the location details. This information will be sent as a message to the destined number till the application is uninstalled in the mobile. This will be like a torture to the user and makes it easy to find the location of the phone and track the user. The location of the device is found using GPS and the details are sent to the predefined number in the form of a message as soon as the user changes the sim and switches on the phone. The application also consists of the setting of the number to which the message regarding the sim and the location details are to be sent.In this application all the operation is done in the background using the concept called “service”.Thus “theft monitoring” is a useful application which helps us to track and find the device in an effective manner.

ABSTRACT
The number of smart phone users and mobile applications are growing rapidly. Though smart phones are expected to have PC-like functionality, hardware resources such as CPUs, memory and batteries are still limited .To solve this resource problem, connect the phones to adjacent powerful cloud servers to throw their computational burden to the servers ,many researchers have proposed architectures to use server resources in the cloud for mobile Computing devices. To solve this resource problem, many researchers have proposed architectures to use server resources in the cloud for mobile Computing devices. We propose a conceptual architecture of android as a server Platform, which enables user Android applications on cloud server via network. Android is mainly designed for physical smart phone, Android’s two other features are useful to construct a server platform. In our project we proposed a system that without installing software in mobile device accessing that software through cloud server. In our project we are using java software in server and accessing that software through the mobile device, improves the performance of our mobile cloud computing significantly in terms of execution time and energy consumption. There are two key tasks involved before remote execution: code partitioning and state migration. And we are using software as a service. SAAS is a software delivery method that provides access to software and its functions remotely as a web-based service.

Find the right person and communicate using any medium, anywhere, from any device. Connect, communicate, and collaborate directly from your desktop with rich multimedia Cisco Unified Communications services.
Mobile Organizational communication is a subfield of the larger discipline of communication studies. Organizational communication, as a field, is the consideration, analysis, and criticism of the role of communication in organizational contexts. Mobile Organizations are mechanical things, in which the parts (including employees functioning in defined roles) are interchangeable. What works in one organization will work in another similar organization. Individual differences can be minimized or even eliminated with careful management techniques. Mobile Organizations function as a container within which communication takes place. Any differences in form or function of communication between that occurring in an organization and in another setting can be identified and studied as factors affecting the communicative activity.
Planning in organizations and public policy is both the organizational process of creating and maintaining a plan; and the psychological process of thinking about the activities required to create a desired goal on some scale. As such, it is a fundamental property of intelligent behavior. This thought process is essential to the creation and refinement of a plan, or integration of it with other plans, that is, it combines forecasting of developments with the preparation of scenarios of how to react to them in mobile. An important, albeit often ignored aspect of planning, is the relationship it holds with forecasting. Forecasting can be described as predicting what the future will look like, whereas planning predicts what the future should look like

30. PRIVACY-PRESERVING RELATIVE LOCATION BASED SERVICES FOR MOBILE USERS
ABSTRACT
Location-aware applications have been used widely with the assistance of the latest positioning features in Smart Phone such as GPS, AGPS, etc. However, all the existing applications gather users’ geographical data and transfer them into the pertinent information to give meaning and value. For this kind of solutions, the user’s privacy and security issues might be raised because the geographical location has to be exposed to the service provider. A novel and practical solution is proposed in this article to provide the relative location of two mobile users based on their Wi-Fi scanned results without any additional sensors. There is no privacy concern in this solution because end users will not collect and send any sensitive information to the server. This solution adopts a Client/Server (C/S) architecture, where the mobile user as a client reports the ambient Wi-Fi APs and the server calculates the distances based on the Wi-Fi AP’s topological relationships. A series of technologies are explored to improve the accuracy of the estimated distance and the corresponding algorithms are proposed. We also prove the feasibility with the prototype of “Circle Your Friends” System (CYFS) on Android phone which lets the mobile user know the distance between him and his social network friends.
31. QR CODE BASED BILLING SYSTEM FOR SHOPS USING ANDROID SMARTPHONE
ABSTRACT
The objective of this project is to propose a real time capturing system for consumer supplies using Quick Response (QR) code in a Android smart phone. In recent years, extensive research has been carried out on vision-based automatic identification technology that recognizes image codes using smart phones to provide various services that can recognize the authenticity of any product. Using Multiplexing and Demultiplexing process encode and decode the information from single QR code with special symbols and split the data back to their QR Code pattern where these QR Code pattern can be read by Android smart phones. Standard image codes like one-dimensional barcodes and two-dimensional codes with black and white patterns identifies a product for its value and basic features but does not authenticate it, moreover not every product that is identified, is used for authenticating manufacturer’s warranty. So QR code verifies products by capturing it through the smart phone, then decodes and sends it to the server for authentication. In particular, we concentrate on the cases where the memory entries and their associations form a binary Hamming space or an infinite square grid. Particularly, we focus on minimizing the number of input clues needed to retrieve information with small uncertainty and present good constructions some of which are optimal. The customer forwards the selected product list to the server that enables the consumer to decide based on the products authenticity.
32. Quantitative and Qualitative Mobile Data collection
ABSTRACT
Data collection is a term used to describe a process of preparing and collecting data, for example, as part of a process improvement or similar project. Data Collection is an important aspect of any type of research study. Inaccurate data collection can impact the results of a study and ultimately lead to invalid results. A method of gathering and calculating data given the appropriate app to support those data gathering needs. With the availability of an mobile for many of us the search began to find an app that lends to easier, meaningful and more efficient electronic data collection. Measuring time and frequency has never been so easy. To count how often an event is occurring, simply press the button when the event is observed. To time how long an event is occurring, simply hold the button down while it is happening or lock it in place for hands-free recording.Mobile data collection forms save valuable time. Imagine conducting a mobile survey without the delays of printing and shipping paper forms. You do not need to worry about paper forms being lost or damaged in transit. With mobile data collection software you do not need to reenter data into a computer because its digital to start with. So there are no reporting delays. so you do not need to worry about the time required to set up and maintain servers.Take a picture, and then annotate it. Collect action video of an event. Record audio questions. Collect a GPS coordinate, and then display it on a map. Scan barcodes to save time, increase accuracy, and reduce fraud. Send ad-hoc and pre-scheduled dispatch forms and work order forms out to your mobile workers. Our mobile data collection software allows you to do all of this with no need for software programmers or IT support staff.Imagine using your mobile data collection software to instantly take a picture, and then sketch on top of it to illustrate something of interest; or to scan the barcodes of materials being delivered to a job site. Imagine recording audio notes and video clips and embedding them right in your electronic mobile data collection forms; or using the GPS to precisely record a location. Think about the increased speed and accuracy of reporting.
33. ROUTE MAP
ABSTRACT
In present days in the entire world mobiles are using very vastly so the people are expecting some new technologies in mobiles as we know android is an open source. In today’s world, man struggles to make his life easier. The need for assumed high importance because of varied and diverse resources, it a product of a company being shipped from the company to consumer, it is in the supply chain management or for that matter even the man-power is required. In large organizational buildings, where the man-power is high, people are not always stay in one place. They have to wander from one place to another to perform their work and for marketing of their product. In such cases, it becomes extremely difficult to keep a product, branches of people and find them when they are needed. Route map is externally provided.Solution for the above problem is as further a product system which can have branches an individual, this process should take place in a hassle free manner and therefore a wireless system would be advantageous. Our project name is “Route Map “it is an application which can able to product of company the location where the product & branches is located and show them Route map is externally provided. The main objective of this application is to locate the products and branches them on maps so, it is very flexible and it is also user-friendly application.
34. SAFE DRIVING USING MOBILE PHONES
ABSTRACT
As vehicle manufacturers continue to increase their emphasis on safety with advanced driver-as assistance systems (ADASs), we propose a device that is not only already in abundance but portable enough as well to be one of the most effective multipurpose devices that are able to analyze and advise on safety conditions. Mobile smart phones today are equipped with numerous sensors that can help to aid in safety enhancements for drivers on the road. In this project, we use the three-axis accelerometer of an Android-based smart phone to record and analyze various driver behaviors and external road conditions that could potentially be hazardous to the health of the driver, the neighboring public, and the automobile. Effective use of these data can educate a potentially dangerous driver on how to safely and efficiently operate a vehicle. With real-time analysis and auditory alerts of these factors, we can increase a driver’s overall awareness to maximize safety.

37. SMART HOME AUTOMATION SYSTEM USING ANDROID DEVICES
ABSTRACT
Home automation is gaining popularity nowadays. Today, we are entering post-PC era where mobile devices (e.g. Android, iphone and handheld tablets) are handling daily tasks that traditional desktop and laptop computers once handled. Several reports show that personal computers are no longer on the leading the edge of computing and the use of mobile devices are quickly taking over. A smart home automation system is based on controlling light and fan and making user life easier. The project mainly consists of two parts, Android Application and Controlling Electronics. The Android Application enables the user to Search for nearby Bluetooth devices; connect to one of them, then send some data to the connected device through USART serial interface. In this paper, a solution to transform a normal house to a smart house while reducing the energy consumption is proposed. This can be realized with the help of wireless sensor networks. The Android phone is integrated into the system which allows the control of the light and fan in the house. The protocol model is developed to demonstrate the effective utilizations of Android phone in home automation.
38. SMARTPHONE-BASED WOUND ASSESSMENT SYSTEM FOR PATIENTS WITH DIABETES
ABSTRACT
Diabetic foot ulcers represent a significant health issue. Currently, clinicians and nurses mainly base their wound assessment on visual examination of wound size and healing status, while the patients themselves seldom have an opportunity to play an active role. Hence, amore quantitative and cost-effective examination method that enables the patients and their caregivers to take a more active role in daily wound care potentially can accelerate wound healing, save travel cost and reduce healthcare expenses. Considering the prevalence of smartphones with a high-resolution digital camera, assessing wounds by analyzing images of chronic foot ulcers is an attractive option. In this paper, we propose a novel wound image analysis system implemented solely on the Android smartphone. The wound image is captured by the camera on the smartphone with the assistance of an image capture box. After that, the smartphone performs wound segmentation by applying the accelerated mean-shift algorithm. Specifically, the outline of the foot is determined based on skin color, and the wound boundary is found using a simple connected region detection method. Within the wound boundary, the healing status is next assessed based on red–yellow–black color evaluation model. Moreover, the healing status is quantitatively assessed, based on trend analysis of time records for a given patient. Experimental results on wound images collected in UMASS—Memorial Health Center Wound Clinic (Worcester, MA)following an Institutional Review Board approved protocol show that our system can be efficiently used to analyze the wound healing status with promising accuracy.
39. SPELL JUMBLE
ABSTRACT
“Spell Jumbled”, the name itself indicates that the words will be in a jumbled manner. The user has to download the game from their mobiles. It is a type of a game where the user has to guess the correct word within one minute of time. If the user guesses the correct word in an allotted time, then the scores will be provided depending on their performance. And in case, if the user fails to guess the correct word, then the time expires and the level gets failed. And the user can set the time limit also for this game by setting easy, medium or hard levels.
40. THE IMPACT OF API CHANGE- AND FAULT-PRONENESS ON THE USER RATINGS OF ANDROID APPS
ABSTRACT
The mobile apps market is one of the fastest growing areas in the information technology. In digging their market share, developers must pay attention to building robust and reliable apps. In fact, users easily get frustrated by repeated failures, crashes, and other bugs; hence, they abandon some apps in favor of their competition. In this paper we investigate how the fault- and change-proneness of APIs used by Android apps relates to their success estimated as the average rating provided by the users to those apps. First, in a study conducted on 5,848 (free) apps, we analyzed how the ratings that an app had received correlated with the fault- and change-proneness of the APIs such app relied upon. After that, we surveyed 45 professional Android developers to assess (i) to what extent developers experienced problems when using APIs, and (ii) how much they felt these problems could be the cause for unfavorable user ratings. The results of our studies indicate that apps having high user ratings use APIs that are less fault- and change-prone than the APIs used by low rated apps. Also, most of the interviewed Android developers observed, in their development experience, a direct relationship between problems experienced with the adopted APIs and the users’ ratings that their apps received.
41. THEFT INTIMATION OF VEHICLE OVER ANDROID SMARTPHONE
ABSTRACT
The aim of this project is to use wireless technology to intimate the owner of the vehicle about any unauthorized entry. This is done by sending status to the anther other mobile using android smart phones. An added advantage of this project is that the owner can send status which will help to find the vehicle. As the crime rate is going up, security system for vehicles is extremely essential. In this proposed system if someone tries to steal the vechicle, the android mobile send status to who are all having same application they will receive same status which was send by the owner. If the reciever saw owner vechicle he can reply his status. The owner receives the status that his vechicle is stolen. He can then send back a call to the police to ‘find his vechicle’. The Android mobile interfaced to the reciever, receives the message, the output of which activates a mechanism that inform the vehicle status. The project uses network for making communication with one user to another. Thus, owner of the vehicle from anywhere can find his vehicle. This project can be further enhanced by integrating a GPS system, which will give exact position of the vehicle in terms of its latitude and longitude. Further this data can be sent to the owner via status who can enter this value on Google maps to get the exact location of the vehicle.
42. TIME-AND-ENERGY-AWARE COMPUTATION OFFLOADING IN HANDHELD DEVICES TO COPROCESSORS AND CLOUDS
ABSTRACT
Running sophisticated software on smart phones could result in poor performance and shortened battery lifetime because of their limited resources. Recently, offloading computation workload to the cloud has become a promising solution to enhance both performance and battery life of smart phones. However, it also consumes both time and energy to upload data or programs to the cloud and retrieve the results from the cloud. In this paper, we develop an offloading framework, named Ternary Decision Maker (TDM), which aims to shorten response time and reduce energy consumption at the same time. Unlike previous works, our targets of execution include an on-board CPU, an on-board GPU, and a cloud, all of which combined provide a more flexible execution environment for mobile applications. We conducted a real-world application, i.e., matrix multiplication, in order to evaluate the performance of TDM. According to our experimental results, TDM has less false offloading decision rate than existing methods. In addition, by offloading modules, our method can achieve, at most, 75% savings in execution time and 56% in battery usage.
43. USER PRIVACY AND DATA TRUSTWORTHINESS IN MOBILE CROWD SENSING
ABSTRACT
Smartphones and other trendy mobile wearable devices are rapidly becoming the dominant sensing, computing and communication devices in peoples’ daily lives. Mobile crowd sensing is an emerging technology based on the sensing and networking capabilities of such mobile wearable devices. MCS has shown great potential in improving peoples’ quality of life, including healthcare and transportation, and thus has found a wide range of novel applications. However, user privacy and data trustworthiness are two critical challenges faced by MCS. In this article, we introduce the architecture of MCS and discuss its unique characteristics and advantages over traditional wireless sensor networks, which result in inapplicability of most existing WSN security solutions. Furthermore, we summarize recent advances in these areas and suggest some future research directions.
44. VULHUNTER: TOWARD DISCOVERING VULNERABILITIES IN ANDROID APPLICATIONS
ABSTRACT
With the prosperity of the Android app economy, many apps have been published and sold in various markets. However, short development cycles and insufficient security development guidelines have led to many vulnerable apps. Although some systems have been developed for automatically discovering specific vulnerabilities in apps, their effectiveness and efficiency are usually restricted because of the exponential growth of paths to examine and simplified assumptions. This project propose a new static-analysis framework for facilitating security analysts to detect vulnerable apps from three aspects. First, they propose an app property graph (APG), a new data structure containing detailed and precise information from apps. Second, by modeling app-related vulnerabilities as graph traversals, the authors conduct graph traversals over APGs to identify vulnerable apps for easing the identification process. Third, they reduce the workload of manual verification by removing infeasible paths and generating attack inputs whenever possible. They have implemented the framework in a system named VulHunter with 9,145 lines of Java code and modeled five types of vulnerabilities. Checking 557 popular apps that are randomly collected from Google Play and have at least 1 million installations, the authors found that 375 apps (67.3 percent) have at least one vulnerability.
